Careers at Laprea Education

Warehouse Associate (Pick, Pack, Ship) Laprea Education Inc. Valhalla, NY (On-site, full-time, W-2)

About Laprea

Laprea Education is a fast-growing K-5 literacy company on a mission to help 5 million children learn to read. We design and publish science of reading aligned curriculum, decodable book collections, and classroom resources used in thousands of districts nationwide. We have been recognized by Inc. 5000 (2025) and Inc. Female Founders (2026), and we have donated more than 200,000 books to children in Zimbabwe and Kenya through Books for Africa.

Every box that leaves our warehouse contains books and materials that go directly into classrooms and children's hands. The work matters.

The Role

We are hiring two Warehouse Associates to join our small, hardworking team in Valhalla, New York. You will be picking and packing book orders, building and shipping classroom kits and book displays, and helping keep the warehouse organized, accurate, and on schedule. This is hands-on, on your feet some of the day, physical work, and accuracy is non-negotiable: when a teacher orders 30 decodable books for her classroom, all 30 need to arrive correct and on time.

What You Will Do

  • Pick orders accurately from shelves and pallets using pick lists or scanners
  • Pack book orders, kits, and product displays for shipment to schools, districts, and teachers
  • Build retail-ready and classroom-ready book displays
  • Stage, label, and prepare shipments for outgoing carriers
  • Receive, unload, and put away inventory from incoming shipments
  • Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized
  • Support the warehouse manager with cycle counts and inventory checks
  • Communicate clearly with the team when issues come up (damaged stock, missing SKUs, shorts)

What We Are Looking For

  • A strong work ethic and a real sense of pride in doing the job right
  • Attention to detail (we ship to teachers, accuracy matters)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Reliability and consistent attendance (your team is counting on you)
  • Comfort working at a steady pace and meeting daily order volume
  • Team player attitude in a small, close-knit warehouse environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior warehouse, fulfillment, retail stockroom, or shipping experience is a plus, but not required. We will train the right person.
  • Tech savvy and comfortable working with warehouse software, scanners, label printers, and computer tasks. You should be able to learn new systems quickly and use them confidently every day.

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, standing, bending, and reaching for the majority of the shift
  • Lifting book boxes repeatedly throughout the day (cases of books)
  • Climbing step ladders and using basic warehouse equipment
  • Working in a warehouse environment

Compensation and Growth

  • Starting pay: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience
  • 120-day performance review with a pay increase up to $2.00 per hour, based on:
    • Pick and pack accuracy
    • Daily pace and order completion
    • Attendance and reliability
    • Teamwork and ownership
  • W-2 employment with paid time off and company holidays
  • Paid Holiday Closure from December 24th – January 1st.
  • 401k Plan with 4% company match
  • Health Reimbursement Plan
  • Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven company that is expanding rapidly

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • Full-time, day shift
  • Occasional overtime during peak shipping periods (summer back-to-school season)
